Creative Use of IKEA Cabinets
We could not overstate how many more options you have with IKEA cabinets than you might realize if you are using only standard cabinets and IKEA layout software. Our designer has shown us many secrets of kitchen design and we've learned from him that many great design solutions can be achieved by mixing and matching IKEA component parts and customizing cabinets.
My favorite recent example was the project of a customer in Brentwood who had gotten a quote of $36,000 to remodel three small bathrooms. The customer wanted a European look. Our designer drafted layouts with IKEA refrigerator cabinets altered to fit into narrow bathroom spaces, and customized with drawers. Minor plumbing alterations were needed. We completed three wonderful, European style bathrooms for under $9,000, labor and materials.
One of the reasons we strongly encourage people to invest in our planning service is to provide them with this expert use of IKEA components.
Speaking of bathrooms, you do have the choice of the cabinets IKEA sells specifically for bathrooms, or using IKEA kitchen cabinets for bathrooms. In some cases, the kitchen cabinets are much better solutions and certainly you have many more options with their kitchen cabinets. As mentioned above, it is entirely possible to do minor alterations to kitchen cabinets to fit them into even small bathrooms. Given the basic principle that the smaller the kitchen, the more vital precise planning is, with a bathroom it becomes crucial.
For offices, for playrooms, for laundry, garages or other storage areas, and certainly for bathrooms and kitchens, high quality, affordable IKEA kitchen cabinets are a great choice. Knowing how to use the cabinet components creatively, and having an expert to install/adapt these cabinets for your project, can make all the difference.
